About

Lula is an all day dining modern European restaurant serving sharing style plates elevated with seasonal produce. Headed up by Paul Delrez, famed for his social media presence and appearance on Top Chef, Lula aims to bring a Mediterranean vibrancy to West London. The restaurant is spread over two floors with a private dining space - ‘the loft’ - on the top floor. This room is flooded with natural light and is a popular choice for large groups or special occasions. The main dining room boasts fancy touches like white tablecloths to add an exclusive feel without feeling stuffy, while moody lighting, lush greenery and exposed brick walls ensure the space still feels relaxed and cool. There is also a covered terrace, perfect for a cocktail and nibble or al fresco dining.

The menu changes frequently according to what’s in season and what local suppliers have in stock. However, you can expect an array of tasty European dishes best enjoyed shared by a group. Start with plates of beef tartare, burrata with salad, and crab meat with kimchi donuts, before moving onto hearty mains like goats cheese ravioli, swordfish schnitzel, and brown butter rib eye steak with roast garlic truffle cauliflower.

Equal attention is given to the sides; you won’t find any limp salads or overcooked beans here. Dig into charred broccoli with sesame and peanut sauce, pistachio caesar salad, and honey miso sweet potato, if you have room. Finish with a slice of fruit pavlova or decadent chocolate cake for a truly indulgent meal.

On the drinks side, expect classic and signature cocktails, as well as a wine list offering new and old world labels, with plenty available by the glass. Think favourites like Whispering Angel rosé, The Guv’nor white, and Veuve Clicquot for fizz.

Lula: The Gastronomic Gem in the Heart of Queen's Park

As I stepped into the cozy embrace of Lula, my senses were immediately tantalized by the promise of a culinary journey unlike any other. The evening commenced with an Aubergine Steak, delicately seasoned and paired with black quinoa and a yogurt infused with aromatic herbs, a combination that danced elegantly on the palate. Meanwhile, my companion savoured the Swordfish Schnitzel, adorned with a vibrant curry sauce and served alongside an Asian-style coleslaw that sang with flavours of the Far East, complemented by a side of indulgent honey miso sweet potato.

Yet, it was the Green Salad that stole the show, adorned with a generous serving of pistachio Caesar sauce and Parmesan. Who could have imagined that such a simple salad could evoke such excitement, offering a burst of freshness and crunch with every bite? Indeed, it was a revelation, one that I am eager to recreate in my own kitchen.

Libations flowed seamlessly, with a velvety Merlot perfectly complementing each dish with its rich notes of ripe berries and subtle spice. And let's not forget the two sneaky Lula’s Margaritas, with their citrusy zing and tequila-forward kick, adding a playful twist to our dining experience.

Throughout the evening, the attentive and knowledgeable staff ensured that every need was met with warmth and professionalism, while the ambiance exuded an inviting charm that made us feel right at home. With a menu boasting a variety of gluten-free options, including the delightful dishes I enjoyed, I felt truly accommodated and look forward to returning for more.

In the capable hands of Head Chef Elena Savchuk, each dish was a work of art, crafted with passion and precision. It is no wonder that Lula has earned its place as my favourite dining destination, offering an unforgettable culinary experience that lingers in the memory long after the last bite has been savoured.

As we made our way out, we couldn't resist taking a quick peek upstairs. The restaurant's two-floor layout intrigued us, and what we discovered in 'the loft' exceeded our expectations. The space buzzed with an event, adding an air of excitement to the already vibrant atmosphere. Downstairs, a cozy ambiance enveloped the dining area, with crisp linen tablecloths and flickering candlelight creating an inviting retreat. The stark contrast between the bustling loft and the serene downstairs area sparked an idea - what better place to celebrate my upcoming birthday than at Lula?!
