SquareMeal Review of Lucio

Bronze Award

Lucio is the kind of swanky Italian you’d expect to find in Mayfair rather than Fulham Road, complete with photographs of movie queens, exuberant floral bouquets, lots of linen and legions of “trussed-up” waiters. However, it also exudes the docile charms of a family-run, neighbourhood trattoria – albeit at “eye-watering” prices. Well-to-do locals reckon it’s just the ticket for a regularly changing menu that blends elements of old and new Italy: expect traditional staples such as beef carpaccio, duck breast with blueberry sauce or chicken paillard with spinach and roast potatoes alongside more upbeat offerings including baby octopus soup with broad beans, pear and Taleggio ravioli with walnut pesto or char-grilled scallops with roasted peppers, Sardinian fregola and mint. The homemade pasta is a must, truffles make their seasonal appearance, and wines are gleaned from fruitful Italian vineyards. Set lunches also get good notices.

Totally overpriced

60 pounds for a risotto with Umbrian truffle is a total rip off . Wine list overpriced too .
150 pounds ahead is certainly a bit too much for this level of Italian

I had one of the worst experiences at Lucio. The place has all the bad combinations, bad food, bad service, owner with an attitude and to top it all with very expensive pricing (price of San Lorenzo without the excellent food of San Lorenzo)

We have been a number of times for a quiet dinner, family get together and even our daughter's christening. Every time it's been great. Thank-you.

We had a wonderful evening at Lucio. The restaurant has a buzzy and smart atmosphere without being stuffy. The decor is simple and contemporary but does not feel cold. The staff were friendly and attentive without being in-your face. I had tuna steak which was was cooked to perfection, my friend sea bass which he really enjoyed too. Good selection of italian wines. This is a great choice for an intimate dinner, a family occasion or even business, probably not a place to go with a loud group of friends . Would highly recommend a visit.
