Located not far from Royal Blackheath Golf Club in the neighbourhood of Lee, this local ‘ristorante’ gets the nod for its “great-value food and excellent service”. Luciano’s has a solid reputation for its stone-baked pizzas, which are made to a special dough recipe and topped with everything from mixed seafood to meatballs and salame. As expected, the full menu also covers all bases, from antipasti of calamari fritti or aubergine parmigiana to risotto milanese, linguine with clams or fillet of beef with porcini sauce. Be advised – “it’s hard to get a table on Friday or Saturday night”. Still, you can always drop into Bar Luciano next door, which serves drinks, snacks and sharing platters right through the day. The restaurant is named after the owner’s father – a one-time footballer who played for Charlton Athletic and also represented his country during the 60s/70s.
