Entrepreneurs and cheeky chappies JJ Goodman and James Hopkins are the personalities behind this series of fun, outlandishly themed bars, each defined by a signature spirit – ‘tattoo rum parlour’, ‘punk gin palace’, ‘gangsters Tequila parlour’ and so on. The Bristol branch’s whimsical theme is Peter Pan’s Neverland, so you’ll find walls decorated with loud bird prints and a curious ticking crocodile (which you definitely shouldn’t smile at) who keeps his beady eye on punters venturing upstairs to the private room.
There are plenty of cosy corners at the Bristol outpost of this fun hangout, so whether you’re grabbing a drink before moving on or planning an all-nighter with friends or colleagues, you’ll be comfortable. The private room, known as ‘The Secret Wardobe’ is great for private parties and comes with your own bartender.
Cocktails range from pimped classics such as Pina Colada, Pornstar Martini and Long Island Iced Tea to fiendishly imaginative tipples including the decadent Choctails & Dreams – a concoction comprising Jack Daniels honey whiskey, Tia Maria, Nutella, vanilla, egg and a squirt of cream (find it in the flavour flav' section of the menu, alongside ‘Confessions of a Cucumber Salesman). There are also zingy mixes in the ‘Live Lounge’ section, including a Chilli Margarita and a Nuclear Daiquiri made with rum, Green Chartreuse, Velvet Falernum and lime.
From crazy cocktails to shots, sharers, wine and beer, everything is served with a helping of feel-good style at London Cocktail Club.
