Lokkum Bar & Grill is located on Woodford New Road, in a calmer spot of East London. Offering a new take on the Turkish restaurant experience, dining at Lokkum Bar & Grill is not designed for vegetarians or vegans, with a heavily meat inspired menu. You may have seen the word Lokkum before - it means Turkish Delight, which Lokkum Bar & Grill aims to deliver to customers with their fusion of foods based on ancient culture mixed with modern influence. Setting the scene for a fine dining experience, you will be surrounded by hand carved furnishings, oil paintings and marble flooring.
The restaurant allows the option of private dining, and even has a VIP cigar room. There are two main dining rooms, the Veranda and Terrace, where the kitchen is located centrally so that diners can watch the chefs prepare their meal. There are a vast number of food choices at Lokkum Bar & Grill, with the grill based dishes drawing inspiration from authentic Turkish creations, fused with contemporary cooking methods and new ingredients. All of the restaurant's authentic Turkish dishes are prepared fresh, using locally sourced produce and ingredients. The hot appetisers include slow cooked shreds of lamb in mini tortillas, grilled sujuk (spicy Turkish beef sausage), and hummus topped with hot diced cubes of lamb, pine kernels and herbs. Lamb and chicken shish are served over hot coal on a thin plank of lavash bread, along with mixed grills, and plenty of options from the sea.
A small roast menu is served for Sunday lunch, along with a selection of fine dishes which includes a minced lamb kofta stuffed with melted cheese, and several steak options.
The restaurant operates a few policies, such as requiring that each guest orders either two hot starters or one main, and no gym wear, sliders or flip flops are allowed on Fridays and Saturdays, with the dress code requiring customers to wear smart/casual.
