SquareMeal Review of Laxeiro

‘This is all you want from a local restaurant’ proclaim the advocates of Spanish dining room & tapas bar Laxeiro. Big portions of home-style food, terracotta on the floor, a cat prowling from table to table… it’s the very essence of a provincial Spanish family restaurant. The venue is ‘always buzzing’ & often has a queue out of the door on Sunday, when the flower market’s on – it’s popular with both hipsters & locals. Simply presented raciones (meat, seafood & vegetable) include tapas standards such as chorizo al vino, garlic prawns, tortilla & octopus from the owners’ native Galicia, supplemented by seasonal specials. Paella for two is a forte. There’s plenty to discover on the all-Spanish wine list, however limited your budget: a typically customer-friendly gesture from the Rios family. Booking is advisable, though is not available on Sundays when you really need it.

Best Tapas in London

Food is outstanding, really authentic Spanish tapas dishes. Big portion sizes ideal for sharing. Restaurant feels a bit like you are sitting in someone's kitchen which adds to the charm. You're not rushed at all so it's the perfect place to spend a whole evening with friends ordering round after round of tapas and wine. Really nice local, family run restaurant. The staff are really attentive and treat you like extended family.

This is my favourite restaurant in London! Amazing food with a great sangria! The service for us has always been great - we have been regularly and they welcome us back like friends. The restaurant decor is relaxed but intimate as it doesn't hold many covers. The restaurant is always packed and the ambience is one of people simply enjoying their evening.

A hidden gem to rival the biggies
We recently had a team lunch here - and having been one who had only frequented Brindisa (and loved it), i didn't know what to expect from this tiny place off the beaten track on the Columbia Road. Well, what i did find was a spanish restaurant to rival the big central ones. The service was flawless given there was a big group of us but they coped admirably. I was able to try a great variety of dishes (Pieces of leg of Lamb marinated with Mediterranean herbs and spice, traditional Spanish Beef Meatballs etc etc) all of which were decent sized portions to share and beautifully made. My dessert was almond cake which was melt in the mouth. The food itself was delicious and on par/even better than the ever popular Brindisa. I just love finding these hidden gems and despite this being a little out of the way, ill certainly be going more often. Well worth a detour into Shoreditch/Hoxton.

Always buzzing and full of locals both Shoreditch hipsters and neighbours. This is all you want from a local restaurant. A comfortable Spanish busy atmosphere!! We ordered a selection of their delicious Raciones, I especially liked the BBQ'd Lamb and the Chorizo with Baby Squid, my girlfriend Loved the Roasted Pepper Salad and the tender sizzling Sea Bass, oh and the Pimientos de Padron all this with plenty of Spanish Bread. This was washed down with a bottle of Albarino that the waiter recommended us as it was from his local region in Spain. We've been past this place many times during the Columbia road sunday flower market but there's always been a queue. It must be good my GF said, We have t go there! So glad we came during the week and we will be going back, with friends soon again. Keep it Local!
