Las Iguanas is a well-known chain throughout the UK, originating in Bristol but serving up recipes inspired by Latin America. The menu features flavours taken from kitchens on the beaches of Rio to the Amazon Rainforest, providing global tastes here across England, Scotland and Wales.
The Nottingham branch is located in the city centre, a short walk from the main square. Outside seating is available which is lovely for sunnier days. Inside, there's plenty of room for larger bookings and the team welcome birthday parties and special occasions.
The menu is extensive, split into not only courses but sharing different dishes from all over the world. The Argentina section, for example, features gaucho steak with ancho chilli salt, chimichurri and Argentine-style roasted sweetcorn, alongside the Buenos Aires burger with a prime short rib patty, smoky pork chorizo and caramelised onion. Over in the 'Cuba and beyond' section, try the likes of the Cuban sandwich with roasted pork belly, melted cheese and smoked ham, or the Fiesta Ensalada which mixes beetroot, mango, roasted butternut squash, pickled onions and tomatoes for a flavoursome healthy dish.
The drinks menu has a holiday vibe with classics like Long Island iced tea, vanilla mai tai and strawberry daiquiri. As part of the company's sustainability strategy, there's also a carbon-friendly cocktail list in collaboration with MOOSE and Wild-Abor. Every time 10 drinks using these eco-friendly spirits are bought, a tree is planted. So, if there was ever an excuse to pick up a cocktail, this is it! And, if you're the kind of person that loves to share with friends, try out a pitcher, like the Huana Party with gin, Huana, passionfruit, elderflower and apple.
