SquareMeal Review of La Lluna
Bronze Award
A welcome and buzzy addition to the Muswell Hill scene, La Lluna gets the vote for its authentic aperitivos, varied tapas plates and potent cocktails (try the vodka-based Purple Cosmo with its hints of fino sherry, Cointreau, blueberries and basil). Drop by at any time of day for some unusual artisan charcuterie and regional cheeses, or pick a few samples from the full menu: one reader loves the deep-fried courgette flowers stuffed with goats’ cheese, but the line-up takes in everything from salt cod croquetas, albondigas ‘blancas’, grilled chorizo and patatas bravas to more eclectic specialities such as crispy chipirones (babv squid) with alioli, choi sum salad and lemon zest or grilled lamb cutlet with butternut squash, roasted garlic and cavolo nero. Paellas also feature, along with desserts ranging from crema catalana to rice pudding ‘cake’ with caramelised red plums. La Lluna also serves breakfast with an Iberian twist, while the wine list is replete with offerings from Spanish vineyards.
