This award winning Spanish Restaurant La Bandera is one that brings forward a new era of Spanish culinary excellence in the heart of Manchester’s city centre. This restaurant is just off Deansgate, and is relatively close to some of the city's most popular attractions. There was once another Spanish restaurant in the place of La Bandera, which was co-owned by footballing legend George Best. But these days, La Bandera brings all of the different flavours of Spain into one location. Inside, the venue is decorated in bright colours and with authentic furnishings that will make you feel warm and welcome.
The menu begins with a selection of delicious appetisers. Choose from marinated green pitted olives with mushrooms and peppers, or a toasted baguette with fresh tomato and garlic rub, and a drizzle of virgin olive oil and salt. For your tapas dishes, there are so many options to choose from. These include the award winning croquettes, a dish made with baked layers of aubergine in a rich tomato sauce with cheese, along with fried potato cubes served with aioli and brava sauce. Other tapas dishes include the king prawns in a Canarian seasoning with white wine and chillies, along with slow cooked Iberian pigs cheeks that are cooked in a Pedro Ximenez wine reduction and served on a bed of light and creamy mash.
If you like bottomless brunch, why not try this one with a Spanish twist. Enjoy 90 minutes of bottomless Cava or beer, with one tabla mixta, and a choice of any three selecto tapas. Or, you can upgrade your bottomless brunch to also include house cocktails, house wines and deliciously fruity Sangria.
