If you find yourself starving hungry and wandering the streets of Didcot looking for dinner, head on over to Kolkata on Broadway and get stuck into an Indian feast, complete with baltis, biryanis, curry dishes, naan breads, rice and kebabs cooked in the tandoor.
The restaurant interior is fairly plain and minimal, but as ever with a good curry house, it's the food that really matters. That said, the restaurant is pretty spacious inside, with tables for large and small groups, large tables that have plenty of room for lots of dishes, and a bar area where you can grab a lager or a glass of wine.
The variety and choice on the menu is dizzying, but the staff at Kolkata are great at suggesting popular dishes if you feel in need of assistance. Kick things off with a plate of poppadums and chutneys, then explore the huge range of other starters, including samosas, chicken pakoras, crab puri and tandoori and tikka starters from the clay oven.
If you're struggling to choose, take a look at the specialities - though again, there are rather a lot of them. Chef specials include dishes like the Shahi Rosemary - a curry dish with rosemary, mint and green chillies - the mild Kapachilla curry of mango, pepper and onion, and Chingri Jhol - king prawns cooked in a special sauce. There are lots of Bangaldeshi specialities as well, and for those who have a tried and tested curry order, they'll find all their favourites on the menu further down, with a choice of meat. Most dishes are available as vegetarian as well, and there's a nice range of breads that include naans, rotis and parathas, as well as ten different styles of rice.
Feel free to order for takeaway or collection if you fancy an Indian feast at home.
