It takes the Square Meal team a while to be convinced of a pop-up restaurant – too often they pop down again in a very short amount of time. But Jubo, having established itself in Rivington Street in 2013, seems to be going strong. Billing itself as a Korean-American restaurant, you can expect all the exciting, punchy flavours of Korea – chilli, kimchi, sweet/sour crunchiness – to be combined with Americanisms, such as chips, slaw and fried chicken. The marriage works well. Chicken strips and wings come with a choice of three sauces, from soy to ‘volcanic’, and there are great BBQ platters to share, or sweet aromatic salads and classic steamed buns for those who’d prefer something a little lighter.
