Despite its location at the buzzy heart of Fitzrovia, Jamies’ Charlotte Street suffers from rather bland decor. Good wine – & Jamies’s lists are always good – deserve more inspired surroundings. With a few exceptions, bottles that include a heady Australian Viognier, a Californian Cycles Gladiator Pinot Grigio & a Domaine Chatelus Beaujolais (suitable for light chilling), leave change from a £20 note. Bar snacks include nuts, olives & chilli crackers, while more substantial food consists of Med-slanted small plates, sandwiches & Brit classics such as gammon & eggs or fish pie.
