Italian Bistro is on Streatham High Street in South London. It serves a range of Italian classics , including sourdough pizza cooked in the on-site brick oven.
The starters offer something to suit most tastes. As well as staples like bruschetta and garlic bread, you can also choose from baby arancini, mussels marinara, calamari fritti and baked dough balls. Those after something lighter or to share can opt for the mixed olives, which are accompanied by sourdough bread.
Mains are divided into pizza, pasta or meat and fish dishes. All pizzas are 12” and there’s a wide range of toppings. You can choose from the likes of a meat feast (chicken, salami, ham, meatballs, sausage), Romana (anchovies, olivers, capers) and signora (parma ham and rocket). Vegetarian options are also in good supply. These include ortolana (peppers, courgettes, aubergines, mushrooms and a vegetable calzone.
The pasta dishes are equally as broad in flavours. Tagliatelle carbonara or ragu, lasagne and penne arrabiata all feature. There’s also penne chorizo, spaghetti gamberi (prawns in a tomato sauce) and tagliatelle smoked salmon. Those after neither pizza nor pasta can have a 9oz sirloin steak, mussels marinara, seafood stew, chicken milanese or pan fried sea bass.
Italian Bistro also runs two offers on food. Feast for a fiver sees a selection of pizzas priced at £5 every day between 12-5pm. Bottomless pizza is available all day on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays. This is £15 per person and includes one drink.
