Handily placed on a burgeoning strip between the imposing Bedford pub and Balham High Road, this glass-fronted Indian does a sterling job by providing the local populace with a combination of accomplished food and suave suburban vibes (think starched white cloths, white walls and candles on the tables). The menu is long and fairly familiar, although the kitchen is keen to advertise that it keeps oil and fat levels to a minimum. Kekada crab cakes and deep-fried baby squid with green chillis keep company with pakoras, samosas and tikkas, while mains might bring Bengali-style king prawns or Kashmiri chicken with apricots alongside rogan josh, kormas, dhansaks and biryanis. Veggies do well here, and there are good-value all-in thalis too. Also enquire about the special banquet menus (Monday and Tuesday only). Related to the Indian Moment in Clapham.
