According to their website “the inspiration behind Indian Ocean is to bring a new way of experiencing Indian food that is very tasty, clean and healthy, yet very authentic.” In order to make the most delicious, authentic Indian food, the team behind Indian Ocean travelled back to the roots of Indian cuisine and worked with professional chefs from various regions of the Indian subcontinent.
On the menu, you’ll begin with a range of appetisers, including plain and spiced padadoms, an onion salad and bhaji, some delicious minced lamb or vegetable samosas fried in a crisp light pastry, chicken and aloo chaat, garlic mushrooms and rashmi and shami kebabs. There are also delicious fish appetisers, including the king prawn puri served on unleavened bread, and a seafood platter made up of black tiger prawns, mussels, crab and salmon tikka. Tandoori dishes at Indian Ocean include the shashlik, a dish of chicken or lamb on skewers with onions, capscium, coriander and tomatoes, along with a tandoori mixed grill with marinated lamb and chicken on kebabs with naan bread.
Of course, you'll find all the traditional curries on the menu. So that means, delicious kormas, madras, vindaloo, bhuna, rogan, pathia, dopiaza, saag and dansak. The chef's specialities include the Bengal king prawn with king prawns in chef's special homemade sauce, with medium ground spices and herbs, a jaflong dish cooked with chickpeas, and the dhakeshwari in a creamy sauce with fresh spices and almond. If you thought you couldn't go to the Indian when trying to eat healthily, you were wrong. The Indian Ocean has a whole menu section dedicated to healthy specials, including a filleted sea bass, chilli paneer, and lemoni coriander chilli chicken.
