Indian by Nature is in Paisley in the west central Lowlands of Scotland. Often referred to as ‘Scotland’s largest town’ Paisley borders Glasgow to the east and was the centre of Scotland’s weaving industry during the 19th century, giving its name to Paisley shawl and the Paisley pattern.
The restaurant’s decor and menu are typical of Indians across Britain. A compact dining room creates an intimate setting, while the furniture is practical and without fuss. Indian by Nature also operates as a takeaway for both collection and delivery.
Starters cover familiar ground. Bhajis, samosas, pooris and pakoras all feature. There’s also a selection of tandoori starters, such as paneer tikka, lamb chops and a chef’s platter (chicken chaat, chicken, mushroom pakora and chips).
The mains equally rely on the classics. Madras, bhuna, dopiaza, pathia, dansac and korma are all on offer and can be ordered with chicken paneer, prawn, vegetables, king prawn or lamb. The selection of specials is also strong, such as sabzi gosht, methi gohst and bindi gosht.
Tandoori and biryani options complete mains line up. The former includes lamb tikka, chicken tikka, and tandoori salmon. An obsession mixed grill is also on offer. This is chicken tikka, chicken seekh kebab, lamb tikka, chicken chaat and lamb chops.
Bread takes the form of either nan, roti or paratha, each of which is available with a range of fillings. Rice can be ordered one of three ways: plain, fried or with mushrooms.
Indian by Nature also has three set menus, designed to serve one person (£10.95), two people (£19.95) and more (£36.95).
