Following on from highly-acclaimed WOOD Manchester, MasterChef 2015 winner Simon Wood adds Homage to his restaurant group which offers a brand new cheese and wine fine dining concept. The restaurant is located on the second floor of WOOD in Manchester, in a former private dining area, and is open Wednesday-Saturday until ‘late’ for diners to gorge on various courses of cheese. The name is a reference to both ‘Home’ and ‘Fromage’ and the space is designed to be intimate without feeling exclusive.
The carefully crafted room is dedicated to serving cheeses, chutneys, wines and beers and works with local producers, foragers and craftsmen to source only the best artisan produce. It aims to create a truly personal dining experience, with only seven tables available to book every night as a nod to its fine dining approach.
The restaurant has been positioned as an after-dinner experience that offers a ‘relaxed cheese journey’ through multiple courses and pairings. Examples of cheeses on offer include Blue Whinnow and English quince membrillo paired with South African Buitenverwachting Cabernet Merlot; Truffle Baron Bigod and Beluga caviar paired with d'Oliveira Moscatel; and Hebridean Blue paired with Sandeman Vau Vintage Port. There will also be luxury extras available such as ox cheek to serve alongside.
Homage is Simon Wood’s third restaurant concept following WOOD and WoodKraft Cheltenham. Simon says: “Wood has defied all expectations and brought unintimidating fine dining to Manchester. We are thrilled to be launching Homage as a complementary concept, and it will be a first of its kind in the UK. Homage is about connecting, sitting back and enjoying time with family, friends and colleagues, whether you’re having a quiet taster and glass of wine with a friend you’ve not seen in years, or a business meeting over a long port with an associate.”
