This pop up gone permanent is the brainchild of wunderkind chef Ollie Dabbous, the man behind Michelin-starred Hide in Mayfair. In fact, Hideaway can be seen as a more casual spin-off of Dabbous’ fine dining outfit, as it is found in the same neighbourhood, setting up shop on Mount Street.
Hideaway has the look of an upmarket coffee shop, decked out in a medley of woods and cream tones, alongside marble topped tables and bread, pastries and other sweet treats lined up along the counter. There are a few design curiosities too which keep things interesting, including wooden bird cages that hang from the ceiling, brass door knockers that line one wall and dried flowers in vases lined up along surfaces.
The menu at Hideaway consists of sophisticated takes on classic breakfast and lunch dishes, which are available to enjoy inside at your table or to take away if you are in a rush to get back to the office - of course, there is also the option to make Hideaway your own remote working hub for the day, thanks to the selection of teas, coffees and fresh juices that are on hand.
At breakfast or lunch, you can enjoy the indulgent likes of a filled lobster roll, a smoked salmon and cream cheese bagel or a homemade flaky sausage roll served with a dollop of piccalilli. You can also dine from the ‘raw and cured’ section of the menu, which features the likes of smoked salmon and amalfi lemon which can be crowned with Exmoor caviar for a supplement.
There are also both savoury and sweet waffles on the menu - the former being a topping of lobster with garlic mayonnaise and parsley, and the latter taking the shape of smoked fudge sauce, Chantilly cream and ripe banana.
If that’s not enough sweetness for you, be sure to pick up one of Hideaway’s freshly-baked pastries from the counter on your way out.
