Named after owner Niall Penlington's grandad Henny, this all natural wine bar, bottle shop and café serves Balham locals a line-up of biodynamic bottles in a laidback setting. The unique concept sees the space function as a workspace during the day, before seamlessly evolving into a wine bar during the evenings. The menu focuses on organic and natural wines with a weekly changing line-up of around a dozen bottles, so you can always expect to sample something new.
Upon entering, diners are greeted by a distinctly cool vibe with lush greenery, stone walls, bright velvet seating and a tiled bar where you can view the weekly bottles proudly displayed on their own shelf. There are several tables at the back perfect for long leisurely evenings, or even to simply pep up your work from home setting.
The carefully curated and frequently changing menu solely showcases natural, biodynamic and vegan wines, so if you have a penchant for orange wine or love trying new labels, Henny's is the place to go. You'll also find a selection of British wines, such as Sov'Ran white wine from Kent, as well as plenty of well-known global labels. For those who aren't mega wine fans, there are also several craft beers and cocktails on offer, including classics like a Negroni Spagliatio.
On the food side of things, there are light bar snacks such as XL Nocellara olives and truffle nuts, or if you'd prefer something more substantial, Henny's has teamed up with Yardsale pizza around the corner. Simply scan the QR code on the menu for free delivery to Henny's and enjoy a 12 or 18-inch pizza. Alongside classic options, there are more unusual pizzas like the Sloppy G which includes spicy ground beef, red onions and guindilla chillies.
