It's well worth navigating your way through Nottingham's fiendish one-way system to reach this tucked-away, cul-de-sac location. While you'll still find lone businessmen from next-door Hart's Hotel tapping away on their laptops, the soft banquettes, booths and gentle lighting mean it's an equally attractive proposition for young couples. Creamy chicken liver parfait is balanced well with tart kumquat and spiced monkfish with pickled-mushroom risotto show off the kitchen's skills to good effect, likewise impeccably roasted rib of beef served with smoked potato, confit carrots and horseradish. Stop in for afternoon tea, with sweet treats courtesy of Hambleton Bakery (Hart's sister company) and maybe while away the hours exploring the restaurants extensive wine list. Service comes courtesy of an immaculately drilled front-of-house team – no surprise, given that owner Tim Hart also runs magnificent Hambleton Hall in Rutland.
