Notoriously difficult to get in at the weekend, we are lucky enough to be able to visit on a Tuesday or Wednesday when the tourist crowds are thin on the ground. The last visit saw us welcomed by a very young front of house manager and served by slightly nervous waiters, who were probably students from the local school and were in training. Despite this, the service was impeccable, and the team were able to help with any questions we had about the food. With regard to the food, it is consistently good, although we have found that the starters are usually very generous and have sometimes just had starter and dessert. The prices are high when compared with other restaurants in the area, but it matches the quality of ingredients and cooking. The only thing that is out of place is the restaurant seating. I know it is an old pub, but the mismatched chairs and tables make you think of rustic and cheap, whereas the food is far from this. It may be time for a make over.
