Hammer & Pincers is an award winning restaurant with two beautiful boutique bedrooms in Loughborough. Open for dinner Tuesday through to Saturday, and lunch Wednesday to Saturday, the restaurant is extremely popular with locals and visitors to the area alike. The menus at Hammer & Pincer can change on a daily basis depending on ingredient availability, so you'll frequently find special, seasonal dishes.
The dinner set menu begins with seasonal canapes before a date molasses and stout bread is served along with a roast chicken and tarragon cultured butter. Next up is the choice of starters including Cornish bluefin tuna in otoro sahimi with tomatoes marinated in bluefin fish sauce and collar bone dashi, and the Old Spot crispy pork rillette which is paired with celeriac remoulade, burnt apple and crispy pigs rind, before a ricotta and last but not least, a feta stuffed courgette flower with courgette and basil puree with capers, raisin and pine nuts.
Main dishes include a rosemary roasted lamb loin with lamb breast stuffed pepper, olive oil, anchovy and tamarind, and the butter roasted dry aged monkfish with crab beignet, and a sweetcorn and girolle fricassee. Pre-dessert, you'll be served a fig leaf ice cream with blackcurrant compote and puffed wild rice.
Then, it's onto the choice of chocolate cremeux with olive oil, creme fraiche, Greek honey and cocoa tuile, or a twice baked stilton cheese souffle with Wymeswold Orchard fruit chutney and celery. If you like to cleanse your palate with something sharp, choose the baked savoy-style lemon tart with fresh raspberries and raspberry sorbet. Lunch is a little more relaxed with a grazing menu available instead, consisting of smaller dishes and an optional wine flight.
