Swathes of wood panelling & leather contribute to the clubby vibe at this underground bolthole attached to the opulent Landmark hotel. Food runs from sharing platters constructed from a long list of snackettes (including mini cheeseburgers, samosas, croque monsieur & chicken satay) to multinational food for all tastes & preferences – think beef carpaccio & prawn cocktail followed by seafood risotto, char-grilled Casterbridge rib-eye & chips or Thai green chicken curry. A well-to-do crowd also come here to sip from bottles of house Champagne (Drappier Brut NV) kept cold in ice buckets set into shiny-topped tables. Cocktails such as hello Kitty (Absolut Vanilla, Prosecco & raspberries) & absolutely fabulous (Chambord, pineapple & Champagne) seem a little out of step with their surrounds, but there’s also a reasonable whisky selection.
