Established in 2015, Gourdans has been perfecting their steak frites ever since; drawing in locals from Oxford and keen steak-lovers from around the UK. The restaurant is a classy, inviting space where the team have designed a menu of speciality steaks, Belgian frites and homemade sauces to match.
Although, Gourdans are not just great at delivering delicious steaks, guests can also experience delights such as daily baked bread and fresh fish sourced from suppliers on the south coast. Even plant-based diners are not forgotten thanks to a variety of vegetarian dishes of European influence, prepared on hot coals to lend a subtle and distinctive flavour.
Everyone knows that a tender steak is best enjoyed with an, equally as fine, glass of wine. The wine list at Gourdans is small but punchy, with a great selection from some great old-world makers as well as some more unique selections for you to experience. Plus, all wines are served by the glass so you don't have to buy a bottle to have a taste.
Gourdans also provides a theatrical touch with a classic raclette. Hot, melted cheese is scraped on top of smoked potatoes, house pickles, cornichons and a rich beef jus. A popular favourite are the beautifully-presented deli boards. Choose cheeses and charcuterie cuts and enjoy with house pickles and freshly grilled flat breads.
All of Gourdans steaks are a minimum of 28 day aged cuts of locally sourced beef. You can expect flat iron, demi and grande sirloin, rump and even special cuts. Gourdans also offers up the ultimate steak sandwich: juicy sirloin steak strips, slathered with aioli, tangy pickled red onion, and punchy rocket all sandwiched between slices of grilled, freshly-baked house bread. All the steak options are served with the staple Belgian frites but there's also the option to add other sides including herby mushrooms, grilled onions, and salads.
