Fans of The Good Egg will be racing to this new bagel shop as Good Things is a new venture by the popular brand. Throughout the Covid-19 lockdown, The Good Egg sold bagel delivery kits while their kitchen was closed to keep the business going and stop their regulars from missing out. Popularity in their bagels surged and now the brand has given them their own home with this standalone eat-in and takeaway spot in Stoke Newington.
Not just any old bagel shop, Good Things produce Montreal style bagels with dough that is hand-rolled, covered in sesame seeds and freshly baked on site every day. The restaurants concept merges the flavours of the Middle-East and Tel Aviv's street food scene with the appetising bagel bakeries of New York and Montreal. The menu features current favourites, tried and tested at The Good Egg, such as the trout lox & schmear and the salt beef bagel filled with brisket, smoked cheddar, mustard, russian dressing and a garlic and dill kraut.
Joining these huge creations will be some new flavours such as the ZFC with cheddar, bacon and pickled onions; the matzo fried fish with a spicy horseradish mayo; and a chicken caesar bagel that shows off the restaurants Middle-Eastern inspiration with its tahini dressing and pine nut dukkah. For a sweeter tooth, the menu plays around with a sweet and savoury combination of caramelised banana, raw tahini, and a sweet date syrup that is balanced out by a soft cream cheese.
Alongside the main event of innovative bagels are a selection of salads and granolas. Freshly baked goods are available to enjoy in the cafe or to takeaway with a tea or coffee for an afternoon pick me up. Traditional, whole babkas, a popular Eastern-European sweet braided bread or cake, are sold alongside more indulgent drinks like their cherry and pistachio malt shakes.
