Good Companions is a good old fashioned pub on Dyke Road in Brighton. Big beautiful doors welcome guests with a friendly feel as trees line the doorway. Inside, decor is just what you’d expect of a modern take on a traditional pub. Bright lighting and traditional pub furnishings make it feel like a home away from home. Upstairs, the newly refurbished secret garden is well worth a visit from those who enjoy soaking in Brighton’s sunshine and sea air. Enjoy the deliciousness of the lip smacking ribs that are slow cooked over mesquite and finished with Goodies’ BBQ glaze, served with chipotle slaw, burnt end beans, Cajun fries and a brioche bun. Or, choose something that you can share amongst your table.
The grazing boards and baskets are great for this — like the Cajun cauliflower popcorn with a blue cheese and buffalo dip, or the chicken wings in a hot sauce. Burgers are really popular, and include the vegan Moving Mountains option, made with 100% plant based patties, chipotle mayo, fried onions, dill pickles, crunchy lettuce, beef tomato, American cheese and Cajun fries. If you love cheese, try the loaded smoked mac which comes in a variety of forms. There is the maple cured bacon with smoked cheddar and green onion, Boston butt with cheddar and a honey mustard glaze, and pit brisket with cheddar and a chipotle sauce. Loaded tater tots and nachos are great options for those wanting something that incorporates lots of yummy dishes into one. Wedge salads are fantastic to add onto your meal, and are as large as they are refreshing.
For lunch, there are sandwiches, sides that can be ordered in multitude for grazing, and at all times, the veggie and vegan menu is pretty popular.
