When the Giggling Squid first came about, the idea was to serve food exactly how it’s served in Thailand. Traditionally, Thai people eat lots of small dishes which are shared, much like tapas. By incorporating the two, the Giggling Squid created a Thai tapas menu, still available for lunch today. Since its humble beginnings, it has grown into a fully-fledged Thai restaurant serving up lots of curries, stir-fries and traditional Thai dishes for you to enjoy.
For lunch, feast on one of the tapas sets to get the best feel for Thai cuisine. ‘The Starving Squid’ includes a red curry, dumplings, spring rolls and jasmine rice – definitely enough to keep you full until dinner. If you prefer to choose for yourself, there is also a long list of tapas options including papaya salad and chicken satay.
When dinner rolls around, expect bigger dishes such as crying beef – marinated sirloin steak served with beans and chillies – and sticky chicken (a favourite among regulars), or the home-comfort beef and aubergine stir-fry all accompanied with your choice of rice.
Vegans fear not, you don’t have to miss out on this tasty cuisine. You can pick from a selection of curries made with vegan meat alternatives to keep you full. The vegan wine and Prosecco selection is also very well stocked you’ll be happy to hear.
If you can’t imagine dinner without a cocktail, the Spicy Tippler with pink grapefruit, lime and ginger is a fresh accompaniment to your Thai feast. The Thai G&T is also a nice take on the classic alcoholic drink, with the inclusion of kaffir lime leaves and ginger.
All housed in a contemporary building with neutral décor and its signature purple splash of colour napkins, you’ll feel right at home enjoying everything the Thai cuisine has to offer.
