When it comes to authentic Argentinian steak restaurants in the UK, Gaucho is pretty much the number one. This branch in Glasgow is nestled in the city centre, between the various main stations. A welcome addition to such a foodie hub, the restaurant delights diners with steaks, salads, burgers, cocktails and more throughout the week. The interiors are extremely stylish, featuring the chain's signature combination of dark wood furnishings, cosy banquette booths and warm, low lighting. The modern-looking black and white bar takes centre stage, crowned by a dangling balcony of various bottles and glasses.
The chain's signature cocktails are a perfect way to start your meal here. There are loads to choose from, from the rum honey with black walnut to the lychee blush, which mixes Tanqueray gin with lychee, reconstructed lemon juice, rhubarb and Peychaud's. For something a little more celebratory, be sure to check out the selection of Argentinian sparkling wine, or go local with an English bottle if you prefer. As for non-sparkling bottles, there is an extensive selection from both Argentina and the rest of the new world, with some old-world options too.
Start things off with a sourdough bagetini, accompanied by pan de Bono and chimichurri with butter while you decide what should follow. The nduja butter scallops are a must, while the big sausage platter is essential fare for any meat lovers, featuring a selection of morcilla and chorizo with picante rojo and lemon aioli. After that, it's on to the main event, which as you may have guessed, is steak. Choose from a range of cuts, including ribeye, sirloin, fillet, rump or a chateaubriand to share. The Gaucho sampler is a great one for first timers, featuring cuadril, chorizo, ancho and lomo for the table. Just be sure to save room for the chocolate torte.
