Fontana is a Michelin recommended neighbourhood restaurant in Holywood, County Down in Northern Ireland, which has been serving high quality food for nearly 15 years with Colleen Bennett at its helm. Bennett trained with Michelin Starred chef Paul Rankin, before deciding to set up her own restaurant which has since become a treasured part of the community.
The restaurant prides itself on ticking all the boxes including creative, delicious food, great staff and an impressive wine collection. Its aim is to create an experience that feels part way between fine dining and down-to-earth, with a warm, friendly atmosphere.
The menu specialises in fresh, local ingredients, for example, the restaurant’s fish is delivered fresh daily, spanning monkfish, Dover sole, hake and lobster. Fontana describes its specialties as local lobster, 28-day, dry aged Irish steaks, and thoughtful vegan and vegetarian options – all of which sound delicious. It has also been known to whip up freshly prepared tiramisu topped with huge dollops of cream and almond tart with vanilla poached cherries.
In terms of seating options, guests can choose to sit inside in the sophisticated dining room or outside on the terrace, next to the charming herb garden.
