The Fig and Thistle Bistro is a quaint dining spot right in the centre of Inverness, down the main high street. Opened in 2015, the bistro has built itself a name for fine quality dining thanks to both the excellent food and the warm, welcoming service from the team.
Head into the restaurant and you'll feel instantly at home thanks to its cosy decor. Start off with one of the expertly-made cocktails including classics such as an old fashioned, aperol spritz and an espresso martini.
At lunch time, you can keep things simple with smaller plates of chicken liver pate or a hearty bowl of the chef's soup of the day. However, if you're looking for a real taste of what the bistro has to offer, you might want to opt for one of the larger dishes. A fragrant Thai green curry joins salmon and King prawns on a bed of fluffy, basmati rice.
On the dinner menu, the starters boast familiar Scottish dishes like haggis bon bons alongside the more adventurous option of sauteed garlic and paprika king prawns with a spicy chipotle mayonnaise. You can also match with your little ones thanks to the exciting children's menu which offers a small portion of the soup of the day as a starter.
Moving onto the main course and you'll find a juicy Scottish sirloin steak, accompanied by mushrooms, skin on chips and vegetables, as well as a punchy whisky and peppercorn sauce. There's also a delicate wild mushroom linguine topped with a shaving of rich parmesan.
The Fig and Thistle nails indulgence in the dessert offering with delights like the biscoff and chocolate cheesecake, a chocolate and baileys marquise, and an oozy ginger, date and banana sponge, loaded with toffee sauce. If you're too full for a heavy dessert, there's also lighter options of panna cotta, sorbet, and ice cream.
