El Pastor comes from a small family of Mexican restaurants that are located across London. If you're looking for good, authentic Mexican food, this is the place to go. You'll enjoy tortillas that are made in house daily, using heritage Mexican corn and sustainably sourced ingredients. The restaurant's story is inspired by the decade that the founders spent in Mexico City and working in hospitality.
El Pastor in Battersea is located on the river, right next to Battersea Power Station, and has been inspired by a decade of living there and an ongoing love for Mexico City. The restaurant is open daily from 12pm on weekdays and 10am on the weekends, and until 11pm each night. If you like brunch, you can enjoy it with a Mexican twist between 10am and 12.30pm on Saturday and Sunday.
Start with a Caesar salad as invented in Tijuana, or a queso fundido made with melted cheese, red onion, pumpkin seeds, arbol chillies and with totopos. When it comes to tacos and quesadillas, try the lamb barbacoa which is 12 hour braised, or the baja beer battered pollock with cabbage, chipotle chilli mayo, pico de gallo and pickled red onions.
Enjoy some salsas on the side of any dishes you order, and refills are on the company. Choose from pineapple and habanero, serrano chillies with tomatillos and coriander, and toasted pumpkin seeds with chillies and garlic. Going through to the sharing dishes, you'll want to enjoy the Angus short rib with chipotle, muscovado and coriander seed rub, pickled red onion and salsa la maya. Other dishes include the shiitake pibil, contramar sea bream and pollo borracho, and every choice comes with unlimited warm corn tortillas.
