Dirty Bones Kensington proved so popular that this second quality dude-food destination promptly followed. Situated on the top floor of Kingly Court, the 65-cover purveyor of American-cool benefits from being slightly removed from the ground-floor throng. Tables are made from pinball machines, granny lampshades dangle over tan-leather booths, and classic US pop informs the soundtrack. The menu’s cholesterol-rich choice follows suit, so prepare thy stomach for The Mac Daddy Burger: six ounces of beef topped with pulled beef short-rib and oozing, bright-yellow mac 'n' cheese. Our superbly crunchy and plump fried chicken was slightly let down by bourbon and marshmallow barbecue sauce (which didn’t taste of marshmallow), while the sweet waffles were dry – although a shot of maple syrup helped. The hot dogs are famously delicious, prices are reasonable and cocktails are fun: there’s even butter-washed bourbon, for goodness sake.
