The Cliff Hotel is in Gorleston-on-Sea, Great Yarmouth. Its cliff-side location means it offers superb views over the award-winning Gorleston beach. In the summer, these are best enjoyed from the large outdoor terrace and are also a feature of the main dining room.
The food served here is varied and will offer something to most tastes. Starters include calamari, Buffalo chicken wings, soup of the day and whole grilled prawns. Main course options range from fish and chips to carbonara to chicken jambalaya. There’s also burgers and hot dogs, such as the smoked chicken thigh burger, spicy bean burger and pulled pork hot dog.
These can be ordered with dirty fries, which also make a meal in themselves. Cheese and bacon, BBQ chicken and nacho style are the three toppings. A selection of food from the smoker and grill rounds out the main course dishes. The former features beef brisket, baby back ribs and a smoker platter, the best way to sample as much as possible. Sirloin, rib-eye and fillet are the three steak options. For dessert, you can choose from the likes of sticky banoffee pudding, warm cookie dough and coconut and lime posset.
Served Monday to Saturday from midday to 5pm, the lunch menu comprises sandwiches, paninis and jacket potatoes. Sandwich fillings include chicken and chorizo or cheese and for jacket potatoes there’s the classic beans and cheese.
The Cliff Hotel also serves breakfast and afternoon tea. Breakfast dishes range from a full English to American style pancakes. Afternoon tea is £21.95 per person (£25.95 with a glass of prosecco).
