There’s a special sort of charm reserved for community-centred pubs, and Crows Nest has it in spades. This friendly welcoming boozer has no shortage of events to keep the local community involved, like Quiz Nights every Monday and Curry Club on Thursdays. This is also the place to be in town on match day. Live sport is an important part of the culture at Crows Nest, and the venue boasts HD screens which show everything from the races to football finals to darts to boxing. There are also pool tables and dark boards if you fancy getting stuck in yourself.
Located right on the edge of Widnes town centre, Crows Nest is the home of good honest pub grub. The menu boasts the best of British and beyond. In the main dishes section, you can find all the classics: mega burger, chicken tikka masala, steak and ale pie, bangers and mash, burgers, steak and even a chippy tea. There’s also a curry menu ranging from mild to very spicy, as well as an entire pizza menu, sports menu and Sunday lunch menu.
Not feeling that hungry? Go for some lighter bites or smaller plates. The nibbles menu offers wings and strips or loaded chips, while the snack shack has sandwiches, toasties and some seriously cheesy jacket potatoes. A small plates menu is also available, featuring breaded Whitby scampi, mac and cheese, and a chicken and bacon salad.
Behind the bar you’ll find everything your heart desires. There are pints of world lagers, craft beers and crisp ciders to quench your thirst while having a chat or watching a match, and plenty of shots and bombs to celebrate the big win afterwards. If gin is more your thing, you’ll be spoilt for choice, as Crows Nest stocks everything from the traditional London Dry to new concoctions packed with sweet and citrusy flavours.
