Situated within The Chancellors pub in Hammersmith, Crisp Pizza has taken London's pizza scene by storm, with some even claiming that it's the best in the capital. The pub is led by owner Carl McCluskey who took over from his grandma in 2020.
It was originally a takeaway-only venue born out of the pandemic. Carl was inspired by the pizza ‘pies’ he encountered while visiting New York, and wanted to bring the same style of pizza back home to London. Crisp Pizza is a no reservation, walk-in only establishment (with pre-orders available for takeaway). We highly recommend you get there early, as the queues often reach all the way to Hammersmith Broadway down the road. There is a small amount of outside seating, should you want to enjoy a slice of pizza with a cold beer alfresco in the summer months.
On the menu you’ll find a modest selection of classic 'pies'. A peek on Carl’s Instagram reveals the lengthy process it takes to make the signature dough, its crisp let light texture and structural integrity supporting a generous helping of toppings. The sauce is exclusively made with San Marzano tomatoes, and all the ingredients are of the highest quality.
One of the most popular pies is the Vecna, a bold combination of pepperoni, parmesan, burrata and hot honey, and the Nduja Pie which sees a San Marzano tomato base topped with two types of mozzarella, parmesan, and Calabrian nduja. There are also veggie options like the Funghi Pie, and Four Cheese Calzone, which is sure to satisfy any cheesy craving.
If you have any space left, there are also two desserts on offer: the house made tiramisu, and a sweet calzone stuffed with Nutella, mascarpone, and strawberries. To wash down your meal, The Chancellor has a great variety of ales and beers on tap as well as wine and soft drinks.
