Located on the ground floor of the Tate Modern, Corner Bar is a late-night spot for art-inspired beer, biodynamic wines, and flavorful European dishes. It’s a unique blend of art, culture, and culinary experiences, all within reach of the River Thames. This creative space boasts trademark Tate contemporary interiors and an inviting atmosphere.
The menu supports local growers and sustainable producers. By day, Corner Bar serves breakfast items, pastries and light lunch plates. Think lemon and blueberry muffins and croissants filled with Suffolk ham, cave-aged cheddar, and carraway bechamel. The cold menu offers salads, baps, and focaccia sandwiches stuffed with layers of taleggio, mortadella, and rocket. While the hot includes steak and ale pies, hearty dishes, and soups. You’ll also find a great selection of kids dishes.
But as evening falls, the Corner Bar transforms into a Mediterranean small plates wine bar. Dishes change frequently, but popular favourites include scorched padron peppers with mojo rojo, coppa ham with cornichons, and grilled Merguez sausage with aioli and piment espelette. And to top it all off, finish with a classic burnt basque cheesecake.
The cocktail menu is inspired by current exhibitions with previous examples including an homage to the expressionist artist Gabriele Munter. The cocktail, called ‘X-Bier’ for her work of the same name, combines Strisselspalt hops and blueberries.
The Corner Bar also hosts a variety of eclectic events, ranging from West African beats to Ghanaian board games and creative workshops. The events require booking, but for food and drinks the bar operates a no-bookings policy, so unless you’re bringing a group larger than ten you can just rock up.
