Comie’s Caribbean Grill is in the Cowley area of Oxford. It serves a range of primarily Jamaican dishes both in the restaurant and on Deliveroo and Just Eat. The decor is vibrant and features full wall murals of traditional Caribbean scenes.
Headlining the food options is ackee and saltfish, the Jamaican national dish. The ackee fruit is fried with salt cod, onions and Scotch bonnet peppers and usually eaten at breakfast or brunch alongside dumplings or boiled green bananas. Other fish dishes include fry fish and brown fish stew.
Jerk chicken, perhaps Jamaica’s most famous culinary export, is also on the menu and served with dumplings. There’s also curry goat, which is accompanied by rice and also available in a large portion. Chicken and vegetable are the other two curries.
Pepper steak (strips of beef fried with bell peppers in a savoury sauce) marks the appearance of another Jamaican classic. Rounding out the food offering is a range of stews, barbeque chicken and fried chicken. There’s also three side dishes: dumplings, mac and cheese and plantains.
Comie’s can also cater for events of most sizes. Staff will be on hand to help you choose from the menu and set up and serving of food is also included.
