Cocos is a family-owned Bar & Kitchen in the heart of Kennington.
Set up in 2018, Cocos is the fruit of an extended family’s mutual love for food and eating out! Having travelled the world seeking out the best eateries and sharing their culinary experiences at family ‘cook-ups’ they decided to create a place they would all love going to!
Planning a dining out experience for 15 is pretty much a full-on project. Finding a menu and venue that catered for vegan’s, nut, gluten & diary free intolerances, that was a bit ‘bougie’ but not ‘bougie’ prices, served great wine, craft beers & stunning cocktails but not just a drinking hole, somewhere the whole family could enjoy brunch, lunch or special occasion dinners was somewhat of a challenge!!
Pulling together the influences of their favourite culinary adventures and commercial experience, Cocos was born & everyone across three generations of this family play a part.
Kirk (hubby, son in-law, brother in -law, dad & uncle) brings his experience as a Chef at Hilton & leads the Kitchen as Executive Chef, ‘Mummy Phyllis’ (the Matriarch) consults on the plant-based menu and creates some of the delicious deserts including the ‘best- selling’ baked Oreo Cheesecake, ‘Grandad’ chairs the family meetings and keeps us balanced, siblings and their better halves support ‘running’ the business and the ‘young ones’ take care of the website, promotions & social media.
The menu is largely based on modern European dishes, with influences of the Caribbean and where possible we aim to support local, ethically run, independent suppliers.
