Just a stone’s throw from the seafront and on the edge of the unique buzz of The Lanes is Charles Street Tap, a LGBTQ+ venue serving up hearty, authentic food in Brighton. The space itself is large and open with an informal feel but nice design touches - think reclaimed-style wood cladding the bar, classic metro tiled columns and fun details such as a neon sign which hails the team the Queens of Craft! Combined with community-style tables and a generous amount of bar stools, it gives off a ‘pull up a pew, the-more-the-merrier’ vibe.
Charles Street Tap has a thoughtful and slightly quirky food offering which covers a lot of comfort food classics with a twist. Signature dishes from the menu include The Crowd Pleaser to share, with chicken wings, garlic bread, halloumi skewers and nachos, while the fish and chips comes with hand-battered cod and mushy peas. There’s also a section for the stone-baked pizzas which are all hand-stretched with unusual toppings such as the Waffle Doodle Do which comes with buttermilk-coated chicken, Belgian waffle pieces and streaky bacon and a drizzle of maple syrup, or the Pizza Cones which are wrapped, stuffed with chunky chips and can be customised with a topping of your choice.
If you’re feeling hungry, you should also check out the crafted burgers, chicken wings and topped fries, all of which have been given an indulgent spin with lashings of different cheeses and sauces. Now, we couldn’t talk about Charles Street Tap without mentioning the venue’s cabaret shows. Throughout the week, a host of performers take to the stage to entertain guests while bottomless brunch rages on. The bottomless brunch offering is more exciting than your average with a huge selection of food including a full English breakfast, waffles (savoury and sweet), juicy burgers, pizza and even bottomless wings.
Instead of just prosecco, you can choose from unlimited cocktails such as Aperol Spritz and Pornstar Martini, gin and tonics, as well as lagers and craft beers.
