Chicissimo Cecconi's is to ‘simply prepared Venetian-inspired food' what Armani Privé is to cheap tailoring; we're talking high-end Italiano here. Park your Prada-clad posteriore on a high leather stool at the bar and hang out with the belles and beaus – anyone from Mrs Beckham to some genuinely posh palace dwellers. Thankfully, prices are somewhere south of Sardinia in high season, with wines from £5.50 a glass and Prosecco at £26 per bottle. In the same vein, the cost of Negroni, Venetian spritzer, lychee and rose-petal martini, martinez or ‘love buzz fizz' (Cazadores Reposado Tequila, absinthe, Chartreuse, apple and lemon juices) isn't OTT by any standards. Meanwhile, breadstick-thin beauties and others dine on assorted cichetti – perhaps quail's egg with tuna, breaded baby mozzarella, stuffed squid, asparagus parmigiana or chicken-liver crostini from £5 an item.
