Broken Eggs brings a slice of authentic Spanish cuisine to the streets of charming Fitzrovia. As London’s first tortilla-dedicated eatery, this intimate restaurant delivers well-loved family recipes to diners, sparking nostalgia for a warm and comforting childhood.
Inspired by their grandma’s dishes, the brother and sister team, Gabriel and Marta, share with diners their love of honest, high-quality food. With a commitment to fresh and natural ingredients that are locally-sourced, Broken Eggs emphasises quality and sustainability. Eggs are gathered from pasture-raised chickens and potatoes are carefully curated each season from local farmers, ensuring just the right flavour and texture. Their biodegradable packaging is also 100% plastic-free, and includes a hand-written thank-you note to provide a sweet, personal touch for those ordering meals to-go.
Adding to the rustic feel, the potatoes are hand-peeled and sliced, creating varying sizes and a range of exciting textures. All the dishes are prepared in-house, and everything is cooked to order for ultimate freshness. As well as a classic tortilla, the menu offers courgette, chorizo, and Iberico ham versions of the Spanish dish, both as individual portions or to share. While its focus is on celebrating the brilliance of the tortilla, other savoury options abound, such as sandwiches and pintxo (Spanish for small snack), as well as salads, charcuterie, and croquettes with homemade aioli. Dessert includes another classic - a thick slice of burnt basque cheesecake.
This high-quality simplicity carries on throughout the drinks menu, which offers a compact list. Lemonade, fresh orange juice, and both alcoholic and non-alcoholic Sangria are offered, along with a short selection of wine and beer, to complement the star of the show. This casual space, with vintage decor reminiscent of grandma’s casa, warm lighting, and eclectic crockery, aims to bring the mellow Mediterranean lifestyle to hectic London.
