Bridgeview Station is located in a Victorian railway station on Dundee’s waterfront. This means diners overlook the Firth of the Tay while eating and are also a short walk from the city’s V&A museum. Constructed over six years, the building is based on Dundee’s former Magdalen Green station and features an original 1870s railway carriage that’s home to the restaurant’s takeaway service.
Food is served all day. Breakfast options include a cooked breakfast (also available vegetarian), granola, porridge and fried egg on toast with avocado. Soups and sandwiches are on offer at lunch. Here you can pair the likes of Dundee marmalade ham hough, beef brisket or harissa chicken with soup for £11. Platters also make for a good second meal of the day and are either fish, ploughman’s or vegetarian.
There are also small plates. These prioritise Scottish produce, such as in the Angus venison carpaccio, Shetland mackerel with beetroot and smoked haddock fishcake. Main courses are headlined by the Scrabster coley with Pittormie purple tatties and roast chicken breast with Ayrshire ham hough and pea barley. Other options include a halloumi burger, fish and chips, and Black Isle flat iron steak. Desserts continue the Scottish theme. Here you can choose from rosewater macerated Pittormie strawberries and a selection of cheeses.
Bridgeview Station also has a kids' menu. This features macaroni cheese, chicken goujons, and sausage and chips. It’s served from midday onwards alongside the daytime menu.
