The Brewhouse and Kitchen chain was born out of a desire ‘to resurrect the traditional British pub’, though what it does is anything but old-fashioned. Every outlet has its own microbrewery (complete with gleaming copper vats), which means that its craft beer is as fresh and local as it gets. Signature seasonal brews such as Crumblehome stout and Cerne Abbas Giant IPA are joined by a list of cask ales, craft beers and bottles from all over the world. The ‘Brewhouse’ and the ‘Kitchen’ enjoy equal billing, and every dish on the menu comes with a beer recommendation. Food is served all day, seven days a week, with house favourites including ‘beer can’ chicken, the hearty ‘brewers’ breakfast, whole baked Camembert, burgers and sharing plates of ribs. In short, an artisan beer trip that’s not just for hipsters.
