SquareMeal Review of BrewDog Nottingham

Judging by the rate at which Aberdeenshire’s self-styled punk brewers are expanding across the land, Britain’s thirst for populist craft beer shows no signs of abating. BrewDog’s USP is a wild line-up of edgy quaffs defined by graffiti labelling and crazy names – try Dead Pony Club, Hardcore IRA or the devastating Tokyo Stout (Britain’s strongest brew weighing in at a brain-jangling 18.2 per cent abv.). You’ll also find plenty of guest ales from UK independents, alongside esoteric bottled beers from all over the world – perhaps Belgian De Dolle or Californian Lagunitas. Filling grub of the street-food variety is the order of the day if solids are required, while knowledgeable bar staff are happy to enthuse about the booze. As for decor, the house style is urban junk meets stripped-back student chic – think exposed brickwork, reclaimed timbers and bare stone tables.
