Chichester may be the proud owner of one of west Sussex’s loveliest cathedrals, but if you have a hankering for French cuisine, you might also be interested to know that it’s home to one of celebrity chef Raymond Blanc’s restaurants too.
Brasserie Blanc Chichester’s menu is devised by Blanc and rooted in his love of cooking French food, something which was developed from a young age while spending time with his mother at his family home. But alongside French classics, you’ll also see British influences, as well as dishes from around the world which are inspired by his many travels.
The restaurant has both an a la carte menu, as well as a special pre-theatre option offering two courses for £16.95 and three courses for £20.95. Highlights from the former include pan-fried stone bass with butterbeans and chorizo, grilled squid salad and chicken paillard. While the latter includes options such as steak frites and roast tomatoes penne pasta.
Especially for Sundays, another menu brings three roasts to the table. Those looking for a traditional Sunday dinner might opt for the roast sirloin of outdoor pork which comes with a pulled pork bon-bon, black pudding, roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding, cauliflower cheese and roasted vegetables. There’s also roast Cornish beef with cottage pie and all the previously mentioned trimmings, as well as a beetroot and Cherrywood smoked cheese parcel as a vegetarian option.
Brasserie Blanc Chichester is located in a picturesque square with plenty of outdoor seating for when the sun is shining. Inside, the décor plays up to a rustic, farmhouse feel with enamel jugs filled with foliage, painted room dividers and industrial lamps. There are ample seating options for pairs, but some larger round tables are available, too.
