Brace & Browns is located on Whiteladies Road in Clifton, one of Bristol's most busy spots. The doors to the restaurant and bar opened back in April 2011, and since then, this spot has received wonderful feedback from visitors. Inside, Brace & Browns is warm and welcoming, with a friendly atmosphere that compliments the intimate restaurant area. The chefs have crafted a menu that focuses on crafting innovative dishes that are inspired by tapas, with a focus on British dishes that are made with locally sourced ingredients.
Whilst deciding what to order, as there is plenty of choice, order the spiced red onion and spinach bhajis with yuzu mayo, or the smoked haddock kedgeree with garlic and preserved lemon mayo. The British tapas and small plates include confit duck with rhubarb terrine and autumn slaw and sesame snaps, a plate of smoked wild mushroom and shallot ravioli with Somerset cider creme, rainbow chard and hazelnuts, and a delicious plate of hanger steak with duck fat pomme anna and house sauces. Other dishes on the British tapas section include market fish with a crab bisque and cavolo nero, a sweet potato gnocchi with pearl onion and sage, and fennel braised pork belly with roasted quince and apple puree. If you're not a meat eater, try the warm salad of halloumi with green lentils, squash and cranberries, the bowl of parmesan and truffle chips, and the slow roasted celeriac steak with heritage carrot, pomegranate and walnut salsa.
All things sweet include the dark chocolate dome with a white and dark mousse and blackberry sorbet, along with a spiced plum oat crumble served with chai and coconut ice cream, and a deliciously creamy dish of pear and almond creme patisserie mille feuille with raspberry pearls.
