Following the launch of Boxcar Butcher & Grill in 2017, the team have since opened Boxcar Baker & Deli just down the road. Open for breakfast, brunch and and lunch, the bakery, store and deli showcases the best of British produce, with diners able to choose whether they want to eat in or take their food away. Do note that the restaurant does not accept reservations, and is available for walk-ins only.
In the morning, the kitchen turns out a selection of baked goods, from artisan breads to cakes and pastries, while the deli counter is laden with homemade pies, quiches and sausage rolls. The team makes its pastries and breads fresh on site every day, although be warned, once they're gone, they're gone! So make sure to get down there early.
Guests can tuck into an array of brunch and lunch items from the counter or kitchen menu. The counter menu is available to eat in or takeaway, and includes soups, sandwiches and wraps. While the kitchen menu is to eat in only, and features dishes such as homemade granola with strawberry compote and Greek yoghurt, roast squash and quinoa salad with apricots, wild rice and miso dressing, and a chicken Caesar salad with bacon, lettuce, parmesan and dressing.
The drinks menu features an array of wines and local craft beers, along with cold-pressed juices, teas, cocktails and specialist coffee.
If the weather’s nice, you can grab a table on the terrace and watch the world go by. Plus, Boxcar Bakery & Deli is dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry friends along if you like!
