Bonbon is a growing independent café and restaurant which opened its doors in 2009 in Fulham. The food in the restaurant, and the products that they sell, are carefully selected and come from small artisan and organic food producers primarily from Italy. Better still, the coffee is roasted in Suffolk and lovingly prepared by trained baristas. The ethos of Bonbon is healthy, homemade food, with everything prepared fresh and to order, based around seasonal produce, and with allergies and intolerances taken into account to offer many dishes that are suitable for everyone.
For brunch, start off with a freshly squeezed juice, perhaps the kale, apple, cucumber, celery and ginger, or the pink grapefruit. Smoothies are blended on the spot, and include mango, avocado, banana and lime, and the raspberry with dates, coconut, yoghurt and lemon. For something sweet, order the smoothie bowls blended with blueberries, raspberries, banana, oats and oat milk, granola and coconut dukkah, and a lashing of almond butter. There are also sweet dishes of pear porridge with pomegranate seeds and honey, and flourless banana pancakes with berries. Egg brunch dishes include the halloumi and ‘shrooms on sourdough with poached eggs and spicy tomato sauce, and potato and feta fritters with smoked salmon, poached eggs and sour cream.
Dinner is kicked off with duck croquettes and dip, and apple and brie arancino. Then, starters include coconut encrusted tiger prawns with mango salsa and braised lamb stew with toasted focaccia. The main dishes are delicious, and include onglet steak with red wine jus and celeriac ribbons, and squash and ricotta ravioli or a mushroom and gorgonzola burger. Ensure you try out the truffle and parmesan chips on the side, and round off with a warm miso apple tart and vanilla ice cream.
