Casual and comfortable and barely an artefact’s throw from the British Museum, Blue Door Bistro has done a good job of disguising its status as a hotel restaurant – it feels more like a great independent eatery. Drop in for a bite in the light and airy room at lunchtime; crab cakes with celeriac rémoulade and chilli sauce, followed by a classic Caesar salad will probably suffice. Come the evening, supreme of guinea fowl wrapped in bacon with butternut-squash mash, a decent steak or prawn Stroganoff with basmati rice may be more the thing. The wine list matches the food well: plenty of variety, yet not too greedily priced, and a very generous selection available by the glass.

Our cuisine is commended with an AA Rosette and Executive Chef Martin Halls blends the freshest of seasonal ingredients and herbs from our garden with classical preparation techniques. The dishes you'll find are combined with the influence of Beatrice Tollman, President and Founder of The Red Carnation Hotel Collection. What is the ambience at Blue Door Bistro?
The Blue Door Bistro provides a welcoming and informal bistro-style setting, with a superb à la carte menu to match. Light and airy at lunchtime, warm and cosy by evening, the room is decorated on three sides with a panoramic view of London circa 1849. Together with the rich mahogany panelled walls, effective use of mirrored glass, and contemporary wrought iron wall lights, an ambience rooted in the hotel’s location is beautifully achieved.
