Following great success with several branches across Italy, Berbere Pizza has brought its award-winning sourdough creations to London. You can now find its sites in Clapham and Kentish town. The secret behind its success might have something to do with the lengthy dough making process. Using organic type one flour, the dough is then prooved for 24 hours for a crisp crust and soft inside, before being hand stretched and lovingly adorned with a variety of high quality toppings.
This affordable and casual eatery features unique decor with eclectic lighting, unusual art and a mixture of barstool and table seating. Whatever the occasion, whether you're just grabbing a quick lunch or settling in for a leisurely meal, Berbere Pizza is a great choice.
On the menu, you'll find a modest selection of antipasti to kickstart your meal, with plates like burrata with baked aubergines and basil walnut pesto, and deep-fried montanarina dough balls with toppings like nduja, marinara sauce, and ricotta, as well as lighter starters like mixed olives. For the main event, there is a whole host of pizzas to choose from. Keep it classic with a margherita or diavola picante, or try something new such as the salsiccia, a tomato-based pizza topped with Yorkshire pork sausage, fiordilatte mozzarella and parmigiano reggiano. If you fancy a healthy side there are also traditional salads like a caprese with smoked mozzarella, black olives and tomatoes. Finish with an authentic tiramisu made fresh daily, or Sicilian cannoli filled with sweet ricotta.
The wine list is modest and features exclusively Italian wines, all of which are available by the glass and won't break the bank - you can't go wrong. Alternatively, there are canned and draught beers on offer, as well as classic cocktails like a Negroni, Aperol Spritz or a Campari Spritz.
